Belle Vale attack suspects arrested by police

Two people are being questioned over a gang attack that left a 25-year-old man in a serious condition in Liverpool.

Up to 10 youths are believed to have been involved in the assault, which happened outside KFC at Belle Vale Shopping Centre on Thursday night.

The victim was taken by ambulance to hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

A 16-year-old boy and a man, aged 22, both from Childwall, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

'Hanging around'

A forensic examination of the scene is under way and officers area also examining CCTV from the area.

Det Insp Colin Rennison said: "This was a vicious attack, which has left the victim with very serious injuries.

"Inquiries are ongoing in the area and I would appeal to anyone who was around the shopping centre at the time, who may have witnessed this attack or who saw a group of youths hanging around, to contact officers.

"Childwall Valley Road is busy main road and I'm sure at this time of night there were plenty of people passing by."
