Merseyside Police car on 999 call in crash

A police car responding to an emergency call has been involved in a crash with another vehicle in Liverpool.

A silver Renault Megane was involved in the crash with the patrol car at the junction of Speke Boulevard and Woodend Avenue, at about 0830 BST.

Two officers and the driver of the other car were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The incident has been referred to Merseyside Police's professional standards unit, a spokeswoman said.

She added this was in line with normal procedure.
