Man held after attack in Liverpool city centre

A man has been arrested after a 25-year-old man was found critically wounded in Liverpool city centre.

The victim was discovered lying unconscious outside The Swan pub in Wood Street at 0055 BST on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. He remains in a critical condition, Merseyside Police said.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on Sunday night and is in police custody for questioning.
