Girl of seven impaled on bike handlebars in Wirral

A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital after she was impaled upon bicycle handlebars on Merseyside.

The emergency services were called to Marlowe Road in Liscard, Wirral on Monday.

The bicycle's handlebars and brake lever had punctured the youngster's abdomen.

Firefighters dismantled the handlebars and brake cables on the bike to allow the girl to be taken to hospital, the fire service said.
