Liverpool police hunt for smartly dressed robbers

Two smartly-dressed robbers armed with a machete and a knife escaped with cash after threatening staff at a Liverpool convenience store.

The men, who were both wearing ties but had their faces covered, went into the Londis store on Childwall Abbey Road, Childwall, on Monday morning.

They demanded cash before escaping in what Merseyside Police believe was a black Vauxhall Astra.

No-one was injured but staff were left shaken, police said.

Det Con Samantha Jennings said: "This was a very upsetting experience for those in the shop.

"Incidents of this nature will not be tolerated from Merseyside Police and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this robbery, or the black Astra being driven away from the scene, to call us."

Police have not disclosed the amount of cash taken during the robbery.
