Liverpool robbers shoot man as they flee

An armed gang robbed a Liverpool convenience store at gunpoint before shooting the owner's friend as they fled the scene, police have said.

Four men raided the All in One store in Norris Green at 2215 BST on Tuesday. They threatened staff with a shotgun and knife and fled with cash.

Staff called the owner, who rushed there with friend Mani Mohan, 31, who was shot at.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the raid.

Two of the three are also being held in connection with other armed robberies.

Mr Mohan was taken to hospital with pellet wounds to his neck and chest and was later discharged.

He said: "We ran up to them to take the money back and they fired the gun.

"I didn't realise they were going to shoot. I thought it was a toy gun.

"The police officer said they had a small gun and that's why it hasn't affected me.

"They cut the barrel or something, otherwise I would have died yesterday."
