Five Star car wash manager robbed in Seaforth

An armed gang threatened a man with a gun and knife as he arrived home with the day's takings from a car wash.

The 24-year-old manager of the Five Star car wash was confronted by three men who forced him to hand over a bag of cash and the keys to his BMW car.

Merseyside Police said the gang fled the address in Elm Drive, Seaforth, just before 1800 BST on Friday.

A 24-year-old Bootle man was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries. Police are looking for two other men.

'Brazen and violent'

The gang, who abandoned the blue BMW estate in Kepler Street 20 minutes later, were armed with a long silver knife and a pistol.

Det Insp John Smith, of Copy Lane CID, said: "This was a brazen and violent attack on a man who was simply returning home from work.

"We believe the offenders were expecting him and knew he would have the day's takings on him.

"Thankfully they did not cause him serious injury but he is understandably extremely shaken and worried."
