National Family Week celebrated in Liverpool

Families are gathering in Liverpool to celebrate the culmination of National Family Week over the weekend.

Chavasse Park, in the city centre, is hosting a series of events on Saturday and Sunday, from 1130 to 1800 BST.

They include a family assault course, climbing wall, and football cage from Merseyside Fire and Rescue.

There will also be story sessions, face painting, cooking workshops, a baby play area and tag rugby, golf, football and tennis sessions.

North Liverpool Citizen's Advice Bureau will be offering advice on how to budget and the British Red Cross is holding a first aid session.

Councillor Jane Corbett, Liverpool's City Council's cabinet member for young people, said: "This looks set to be a great weekend of fun for the whole family in the heart of the city centre."
