Echo Arena Liverpool holds singer boot camp auditions

Top music producer and actor Simon Britton is on the look out for local singers in Merseyside.

He is part of a panel that will seek out talented singers, actors and dancers who could benefit from a place at Rare Studios in Liverpool.

The finalists will win a free place at the academy where they will be trained by industry experts for 12 months.

A free open audition for ages 11 to 25 is being held at Echo Arena Liverpool on Saturday, 23 July, 2011.

Nurturing talent

Mark Sumner, a casting director who has worked with Madonna, 50 cent and Michael Jackson, will be joining producer Simon Britton on the panel.

Michelle Faulkner, Director of Rare Studios said: "You see people coming through these big shows all of the time so we know the talent is out there.

"We want to try and find it in Liverpool and then nurture it so that they can go on to have a career.

"We are looking for that really raw, rough diamond who maybe sings in their bedroom or sings at family gatherings, who is really good but doesn't have the confidence to take it further, the one who has a sparkle that we can support.

"We will then provide them with individual mentoring, vocal training and gigs, so that they can go on with their career and develop as a singer, with confidence."

Those who enter will be asked to perform a song of their choice between 0900 and 1700BST on Saturday, 23 July.

Successful candidates will be invited back to a Liverpool-based boot camp the following week before at least two are chosen as finalists.
