Motorcyclist dies in New Ferry bypass crash

A motorcyclist has died after he came off his bike on a bypass in Wirral.

Merseyside Police were called to reports of the incident on the New Ferry bypass just before 14:10 BST on Saturday.

The rider, a man in his 50s and from the Ellesmere Port area, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Officers closed the bypass for several hours to allow investigators to examine the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
