Railway line between Liverpool and Manchester reopened after fire

The railway line between Liverpool and Manchester has been reopened after a fire in Warrington.

The fire was reported at a garage beneath the railway bridge in Marsh House Lane at 17:00 BST.

Reports that the premises might contain cylinders led to a 200m cordon being established and those houses within it being evacuated.

The line remained closed until 21:50 BST, during which time alternative services were provided for travellers.

A rest centre for people from the evacuated houses was established at Warrington Rugby Club.
