The chief executive of Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral is leaving his post.

Len Richards' management had been criticised by senior doctors at the hospital, 200 of whom passed a motion of no confidence in him earlier this month.

Staff threatened to take industrial action at a meeting on Thursday unless changes were made.

North West Tonight reported that it was understood Mr Richards would be taking another post within the NHS.

Consultants were concerned with a number of recent decisions, including plans to relocate vascular surgery from the hospital to Chester.

The four Wirral MPs had also expressed concerns over the plans to relocate the surgery.
