Historic Wirral church for sale

All Saints Church All Saints Church in New Brighton is for sale for £250,000

A church designed by the architect who created Liverpool Cathedral is for sale in Wirral.

All Saints Church in New Brighton was designed in 1915 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the architect who created Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.

Building work started in 1927 and continued in stages until the Chancel was finally added in 1963.

The property on Hoseside Road has a guide price of £250,000 and is for sale with Chester estate agent Denton Clark.

A spokesperson for the Diocese of Chester said: "More than 90 years of faithful Christian service took place at All Saints, and the closure was marked with a special service attended by the Bishop of Birkenhead.

"We will be looking for a buyer who will put the building to a suitable use that does not conflict with Church of England values.

"All Saints closed following a lengthy consultation and legal process which the Church of England always applies to church buildings, not least because they are important focal points for the local community."

The church closed after a sharing arrangement between Anglican and Catholic dioceses came to an end. Local parishioners can now attend services at the nearby St Nicholas' Church, Wallasey Village.
