Youth charged over M62 motorway bridge racist banners

A 15-year-old youth from Speke has been charged in connection with banners bearing racist slogans being hung from a bridge on the M62 motorway.

Merseyside Police found the banners hanging from a footbridge in the Huyton area near to Old Dover Road on two separate dates in June.

The teenager was charged with causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

He is due to appear at Knowsley Youth Court on 9 September.
