Boy, 12, held in latest Merseyside riot arrests

A 12-year-old boy is among four more people arrested over riots in Merseyside on 8 and 9 August.

The boy from Birkenhead has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and criminal damage.

A 27-year-old Birkenhead man, a man aged 43 and a 17-year-old youth both from Toxteth, were also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the riots.

Merseyside Police said that more than 200 people had been arrested so far following the disturbances.

A spokesman said that the latest arrests were made as a result of "proactive operations".
