The family of a 17-year-old girl who died a week after being critically injured in a car crash in Cheshire have paid tribute to her.

Kirsty Jane Goulden, from Great Sankey in Warrington, was a passenger in a black Volkswagen Golf which crashed into a wall in Alder Lane, Burtonwood.

Her family said they were "so proud of her" especially after she took the lead in a drama production at her college.

The 19-year-old male driver died at the scene of the crash on 17 August.

Miss Goulden had recently completed a performing arts course at Warrington Collegiate.

"We are so glad she got to star as a lead role in the play, especially as it was the day of her birthday. It was an amazing performance with her friends and we are all so proud of her," the tribute said.

"She touched so many hearts and lived life to the full. As a family, we are so glad she got to have so many happy experiences, including finding true love."
