Man arrested after armed robbery at HSBC in Bootle

A man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery following a raid at a bank on Merseyside.

Officers were called to the HSBC on Stanley Road, Bootle, at 14:15 BST, after reports a man with a firearm had threatened staff and stolen money.

A 38-year-old man was arrested in Liverpool city centre at about 15:30 BST.

He is also being questioned about an armed robbery at the Lloyds TSB on West Derby Road on Wednesday, police said.
