Three arrests over attempted murder of Bootle boy

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a 17-year-old Merseyside boy.

Two men, aged 33 and 47, and a woman, 44, have been questioned and bailed pending further enquiries over the attack in Bootle.

Merseyside Police were called to Northfield Road at about 13:30 BST on Wednesday and found the victim had suffered injuries to his head and body.

He was treated in hospital and was later discharged.

A police spokesman said: "The investigation is still in its early stages and at this time the motive for the attack is unknown although it is believed he was targeted."

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
