Man hit by train in Liverpool dies

A man died when he was hit by a train in south Liverpool, police have said.

The emergency services were alerted just after 19:00 BST on Saturday after reports that a man had been struck by a train near Mossley Hill station.

Despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said the death was not suspicious and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

The incident caused severe disruption to services from Liverpool for several hours while the body was recovered and an investigation took place.
