Body of man found in River Mersey at Wallasey

Police on Merseyside are trying to trace the relatives of a man whose body was found in the River Mersey.

The body of a 33-year-old man was discovered in the water close to Caithness Drive at Egremont Promenade, Wallasey, at about 10:30 BST on Wednesday.

Merseyside Police said the man had been identified as a foreign national.

The results of a post-mortem examination are not being revealed until toxicology reports are received.
