A 65-year-old man has denied murdering Liverpool grandmother Anne Marie Foy almost six years ago.

The 46-year-old, who was working as a prostitute, was beaten, strangled and dumped in undergrowth near the Royal Liverpool Hospital in 2005.

David Butler, of Albert Grove in Wavertree, Liverpool, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Walton prison on Tuesday.

He was remanded back into custody until his trial on 11 January.

Mr Butler was arrested in June for the killing, which took place on 15 September 2005.
