Woman's leg amputated after crash outside Salford Royal

A woman had to have her leg amputated after she was hit by a lorry outside Salford Royal Hospital.

The 64-year-old suffered serious injuries to her leg and pelvis and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police said the heavy goods vehicle hit the woman in Eccles Old Road at about 14:00 BST on Monday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
