Man shot through car window in Anfield

A man was shot as he sat in a car at traffic lights in Liverpool.

The 31-year-old is being treated for head injuries after the incident, which happened as he was driving a silver Ford Galaxy on Friday night.

Police believe he pulled up at lights at the junction with Breck Road and Priory Road and shots were fired through the driver's side window.

The man was taken to hospital but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A passenger in the car was unhurt.

Merseyside police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesman said the investigation was in its early stages, but it is believed the shooting was a targeted attack and detectives are following up several positive lines of inquiry.
