Shooting in Anfield: Arrests after gun fired into car

Two men have been arrested after a man was shot through the window of a car in Liverpool.

The 31-year-old suffered head injuries in the attack as he pulled up at traffic lights on Townsend Lane, Anfield, on Friday night.

Two 23-year-olds were arrested, one on suspicion of attempted murder and another on suspicion of possession of a firearm and drugs charges.

Both were released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries.

Heroin found

The men were arrested by police who searched two addresses in Anfield on Friday night.

At one address officers found half a kilo of what is believed to be heroin and at the other they recovered a small amount of cannabis and a large quantity of cash.

The shooting took place at about 22:30 BST on Friday.

Police believe the victim had pulled up at lights at the junction with Breck Road and Priory Road and shots were fired through the driver's side window.

Merseyside police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
