Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has announced that he will be ending the next leg of his latest tour in his home city of Liverpool.

McCartney, who married Nancy Shevell on Sunday, said he will perform at the Echo Arena on 20 December.

The gig will end an 11-date leg of his On The Run Tour, which will begin in November.

The Echo Arena performance will take place precisely a year after he appeared at Liverpool's O2 Academy.

He will also perform at Manchester's MEN Arena on 19 December and London's O2 Arena on 5 December.

Other dates include shows in Abu Dhabi, Europe and Russia.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday.

Sir Paul said: "Playing live is one of the most exciting parts of my job.

"My audiences seem to get better each year and the band, and I love the buzz and feedback that they give us."
