A 51-year-old man accused of murdering his landlady and her mother has been remanded in custody.

Angela Holgate, 54, and Alice Huyton, 75, were discovered at Mrs Holgate's home near Southport on 3 December.

Post-mortem examinations showed Ms Holgate and Mrs Huyton were asphyxiated and Ms Holgate died before her mother.

Barry Morrow, of Fairhaven Road, Southport, was remanded by South Sefton Magistrates' Court, Bootle, to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday.
