Grandchildren's presents taken by Warrington car thieves

A woman's car was taken by thieves who stole her grandchildren's presents in Warrington.

Three men forced the woman to hand over her car keys and pushed her to the ground in the car park of St Oswald's Church, Winwick, on Wednesday evening.

The men, one of whom was armed with a stick, tried to steal her handbag and then drove away in the car.

The Volkswagen Beetle was found abandoned nearby, but two large bags of presents had been taken.

Insp Dave Griffiths from Cheshire Police said: "This crime is particularly despicable as the thieves not only intimidated the victim, but stole her grandchildren′s Christmas presents.

"As this crime took place during rush hour we are keen to speak to any passing motorists in the area of Myddleton Lane and Golborne Road who may have seen the incident take place."
