Four held after man shot in West Derby, Liverpool

Four men have been arrested after a man was shot in the leg in Liverpool on Christmas Day.

Reports of shots being fired outside the West Derby pub in West Derby village were received at about 10:15 GMT, Merseyside Police said.

A 23-year-old man was later taken to hospital with a leg wound. His injury is not thought to be life threatening.

A 30-year-old man from Northwich and three men aged, 26, 23 and 21 from Liverpool have been arrested.

The four are being held on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said that they have yet to establish a motive for the shooting and are examining CCTV footage from the area.
