Wirral pub landlord assault: Man charged

A man has been charged after a Wirral pub landlord was found with head injuries on New Year's Day.

The 44-year-old man was found in the bar area of the Rose and Crown in Poulton Road, Wallasey, by a cleaner at about 08:15 GMT.

Police said he had not been seen since 02:30 GMT after the pub had closed.

A 33-year-old man from Wallasey was arrested and later charged with assault and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court later.
