Eight arrested after shotguns found in Liverpool

Eight people have been arrested - including three 17-year-olds - after guns were seized by police on Merseyside.

A sawn-off shotgun was found at an address in York Way, Garston, earlier. A man, 44, woman, 36, and girl, 17, were all arrested.

Another sawn-off shotgun was discovered in a raid at a property in Herrick Street, Old Swan.

A man of 24, women aged 18 and 22, and two 17-year-olds were arrested.

All those arrested are being questioned in relation to firearm offences.

Det Ch Supt Tony Doherty, head of Merseyside Police's Matrix team, said: "These warrants have been executed following information received directly from the community, and the removal of these guns could have potentially saved someone from being injured, or even killed.

"We act on all information we receive and urge anyone who may have further information on where guns or ammunition are being stored, or those involved in this illegal activity, to tell us so we can take action and get them off our streets."
