Policemen charged after Liverpool-Everton match fight
Three serving Merseyside Police officers have been charged in connection with a fight before a Liverpool versus Everton match.
A man suffered a broken jaw in the fight on 16 January, 2011.
Det Sgt Greg Symon, 39, Det Con Mark Scarrat, 43, and Det Con Christopher Sheron, 43, are charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Five others also face the same charge. All are bailed to appear at before Blackburn magistrates on 21 February.
The charges relate to a disturbance involving football supporters outside the King Harry public house on Anfield Road ahead of the derby game.
The other men charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice are: Colin Stewart, 43, of Store Street, Bootle; Kevin Morland, 36, of Rosedale Road, Allerton; Niall Macklin, 21, of Layton Avenue, Prenton; John Nuttall, 45, of Warnerville Road, Old Swan; Christopher Hannon, 24, of Merlin Road, Prenton.
Mr Hannon has also been charged with conspiracy to supply counterfeit currency.
