Man critical after Maghull car park shooting

A man is critically ill in hospital after he was shot in the side on an industrial estate on Merseyside.

Police were called to a car park in the Sefton Lane Industrial Estate in Maghull at about 16:50 GMT, after shots had been heard in the area.

A short time later, a 23-year-old man arrived at hospital with suspected bullet wounds.

The scene has been cordoned off while forensic tests take place and police are appealing for witnesses.

Police said the injured man's condition is described as critical but is not thought to be life-threatening.

Det Insp Tom Keaton said: "This happened as rush hour was approaching and we are sure that there was a lot of traffic in and around the area at the time.

"I would urge those who saw anything, no matter how insignificant they might think it to be, to get in touch with officers.

"Their information could be key in finding those responsible."
