Parkgate Parade closed by 'unsafe' building
Part of the main road through a Cheshire tourist village has been closed due to an unsafe building.
A section of the road and footpath of Parkgate Parade in Parkgate was closed to traffic and pedestrians on Thursday.
Parts of Mostyn House School, which closed in 2010, are in potential danger of falling on to the street, Cheshire West and Chester Council said.
The closure has split the village in two with access to the north end now only via Boathouse Lane.
The council said it is "making efforts to contact the building's owners" to carry out repairs.
The road is expected to be closed for a minimum of several days.
Parkgate, on the coastline of the River Dee, was an important port in the 18th Century until silting of the river made it unusable.
The village, which is popular with tourists and bird watchers, now fronts on to marshland.
