Man attacked in Birkenhead Wine Lodge dies

A 30-year-old man who was seriously injured in a Wirral bar on 10 February has died.

The man died in hospital on Friday following the incident in the Wine Lodge, in Charing Cross, Birkenhead.

A 32-year-old man from Prenton has appeared in court charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

A second man, 36, has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A post mortem examination is being arranged to establish the exact cause of death.

Det Ch Insp Dave McCaughran urged anyone with information about the incident, which happened at about 21:10 GMT to come forward.

He said: "We are continuing to build up a picture of what lead to this man's death.

"It was a busy Friday night and someone will have seen what happened."
