Man charged after street attack on man in Rock Ferry

A 22-year-old man has been charged with assault following an attack on a 42-year-old man in Wirral which left him in a critical condition.

The man was punched to the ground near Old Chester Road, Rock Ferry, on Monday evening.

He is thought to have had a row with a group of youths when a second man intervened and punched him.

An 18-year-old man, two 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old who were also arrested have been released on bail.

The 42-year-old hit his head and remains in a critical condition at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The 22-year-old is in police custody and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court on Friday.
