Mill Dam Park stabbing: Seven men arrested

Seven men have been arrested after a 24-year-old man was stabbed in a park on Merseyside.

The attack took place in Mill Dam Park on Mill Lane, Kirkby, at about 12:30 GMT on Wednesday.

The victim, from Kirkby, was taken to hospital with stab and slash wounds. His injuries, while serious, are not thought to be life threatening.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said they were "looking at potential motives" and believed the attack "to be targeted".

The arrested men, from the Kirkby, Bootle and Norris Green areas, are aged between 19 and 33.

They are being held on on suspicion of section 18 assault and violent disorder at police stations across Merseyside.
