Two men have been charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in a park in Chester.

The body of David Lavender, 37, was found at Edgar's Field, Handbridge, at 23:15 BST on Sunday.

He had suffered head and upper body injuries. Two men, aged 29 and 31, have been remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on 11 June.

Paying tribute to Mr Lavender, his parents said his death had "shocked both family and friends to the core".

Dorothy and Tony Lavender said: "He was a kind and loving family man who had grown up and lived in Lache for all of his life.

"He leaves behind three young children who remain our focus at this point."
