Two arrested after man's body found in Chester

A man and a woman have been arrested following the discovery of a man's body in Chester.

Police found the body in an address in Eversley Park on Friday night, while investigating a separate assault.

Officers had been called to an attack on a man near Fountain's roundabout in the city and had visited the address to speak to a witness.

A 41-year-old man and 49-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said the man had yet to be formally identified and that the force were investigating the circumstances around his death.

The 41-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the attack on the man near the roundabout.

The assaulted man was left with serious injuries to his wrists, hands and head after being attacked with a broken bottle.

The police spokesman said he was recovering in hospital and that his injuries were not life-threatening.
