Man jailed for Herbert Allanson murder in Birkenhead

A man has been jailed for life for the murder of a 71-year-old man in Wirral.

Dean Brennan, 20, of Laird Street, Birkenhead, admitted at Liverpool Crown Court to the murder of Herbert Allanson.

He also admitted a charge of theft and was ordered to serve a minimum of 15 years.

Mr Allanson was found by police at a house in Dawson Close, Birkenhead, in March. A post-mortem examination found he was stabbed to death.
