Liverpool man treated after being shot in head

Police are investigating after a man turned up at a hospital in Liverpool with a shotgun wound to his head.

The 20-year-old from Norris Green sought treatment at 22.50 BST on Saturday.

Detectives are trying to establish how the shooting happened and believe it took place in the Croxteth area.

The man's injuries are described as superficial and police said they were believed to be caused by pellets from a shotgun.

It is the latest in a spate of shootings in the city.

Det Ch Supt Paul Richardson, who heads up Merseyside Police's elite Matrix unit, has previously said Liverpool is facing an acute gun crime problem.
