A man has been arrested after a man was found stabbed outside a Liverpool pub.

Police discovered the 40-year-old with a wound to the abdomen outside the Lord Warden pub, in London Road, at 19:00 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police said the arrested man, 38, from Liverpool, was detained on suspicion of wounding and was being questioned by officers.
