A man had to be cut free by firefighters after his car crashed into a ditch in Merseyside.

Merseyside Fire Service had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the 45-year-old from the vehicle which crashed at about 01:30 GMT.

The car left the road and was found partially in a ditch by firefighters near the junction of Pasture Lane and Southport Old Road, Formby.
