Body find on Merseyside beach 'unexplained'

Police have launched an investigation after a man's body was found on a beach in Merseyside.

Officers were called to the discovery by a passerby on the beach in Formby at 13:00 GMT.

They are treating the death as unexplained and investigating the man's identity, how he died and how his body came to be in the location.

An area of the beach has been cordoned off while officers recover the body from the scene.
