Liverpool Half Marathon: 8,000 runners take part

More than 8,000 runners have taken part in the Liverpool Half Marathon.

The race was the biggest in its 20-year history and included athletes from as far afield as Brazil, New Zealand and Canada.

It started and finished at the Pier Head and took runners past Princes Park, Sefton Park, Festival Park, Albert Dock and Liverpool Museum.

The 13.1 mile race was started by 89-year-old Eddie Mountford, a veteran marathon runner from Wirral.
