Body find in Liverpool: Murder investigation launched

A murder investigation is under way after a man's body was found in the back garden of a house in Liverpool, police said.

Officers believe Karl Bradley, 31, who was found on Friday in the garden in Penshaw Close, West Derby, had been shot.

Merseyside Police are investigating a possible link to a shooting on the same street at 23:00 GMT on Thursday.

The force said no one at the address of the first shooting was injured.

Referring to Thursday's incident, Ch Supt Jon Ward said: "Officers were called to Penshaw Close to reports of shots fired at a house.

"When officers arrived they found damage to the front downstairs window of the house.

"Fortunately no one inside of the house was injured during this incident but this is the home of a young family with two young children and it could have been much worse."

He added: "Given the incident last night and the close proximity to where the body was discovered this morning we believe these incidents are potentially linked and a comprehensive investigation is under way to establish the circumstances surrounding both incidents."

Police said a post-mortem examination is being carried out to establish the cause of death.

Penshaw Close has been cordoned off while forensic examinations are carried out and house to house inquiries are under way.

High visibility patrols are in place in the area.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have information to contact them.
