Loaded gun found on Warbreck Moor railway bridge

A loaded gun and ammunition have been found on a disused railway bridge in Liverpool, police have said.

Merseyside Police said a member of the public found the weapon on the loopline in Warbreck Moor, Aintree, on Wednesday afternoon.

Forensic experts are now examining the weapon and "substantial amount" of ammunition.

Det Ch Insp Richie Salter said: "The fact that this lethal weapon is now out of circulation is a great result."
