A £20,000 reward is being offered by police for information about the murder of a man in a Liverpool street a year ago.

Joseph Thompson, 32, from Norris Green, was shot dead on Ravensthorpe Green at about 01:00 BST on 14 June last year.

He was known to police who are investigating whether the death was a gang-related "targeted attack".

Merseyside Police said it wanted to speak to the occupants of a dark-coloured Citroen C4 seen in the area.

Police have previously issued CCTV images of the car.

It was seen on Sedgemoor Road and a short time later on Lowerhouse Lane at the junction of East Lancashire Road.

Det Ch Insp Neil Clark said: "I would hope that the passing of time will enable people to search their consciences and find the courage to come forward to tell us what they know.

"We understand that people are sometimes reluctant to come forward in the aftermath of such a serious crime as this.

"A year on, people may have moved from the area or may be in a different situation from then and now feel in a position to talk to the police."

Police have arrested four men, but all of them were bailed pending further inquiries.

A 27-year-old man was wounded in the shooting.
