Two boys charged over £2m Merseyside 'cannabis factory'

Two boys have been charged with producing a controlled drug after a £2m "cannabis factory" was uncovered in a former sports bar on Merseyside.

The pair were arrested along with seven others after more than 2,000 cannabis plants were found in the property in Rice Lane, Fazakerley on Sunday.

The boys aged 15 and 16, of no fixed abode, are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

A 35-year-old woman and six men, aged 46, 38, 35, 28, 28 and 21, were bailed.

Det Ch Supt Paul Richardson said it was "a large and sophisticated cannabis factory containing thousands of plants across eleven growing rooms".
