Up to 1,000 jobs could be created with the construction of a warehouse measuring one million sq ft in Liverpool.

A firm described as "global" in nature is said to be behind the plan for the depot in Stonebridge Cross, Gillmoss.

The planning application was approved at a meeting of Liverpool City Council earlier.

City mayor Joe Anderson said the scheme was "good news for a part of Liverpool that desperately needs jobs".
