A man has been charged with murder over the death of a man whose body was found at a house in Liverpool.

The body of Paul Thorbjornsen, 46, was found at the property in Dalemeadow Road, Knotty Ash on Saturday after a man told police he believed his friend had died.

A post-mortem examination failed to establish how Mr Thorbjornsen died.

John Penlington, 52, of Strathmore Road, Tuebrook, is due to appear before Liverpool magistrates on Tuesday.

A 30-year-old man from Toxteth has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He was picked up at about 04:30 GMT on Saturday in Park Road, Toxteth, after flagging down a police car.
